Past weekend Bugatti revealed their latest Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Roadster at Pebble Concours d’Elegence in a Monterey, California. As the result of pure consumer demand, the famous brand name made the extensive modifications on Veyron to convert it into the Cabriolet.

Bugatti Veyron Cabrio arrives with the stylish daytime running lights, higher windscreen and transparent, lightweight polycarbonate roof.

The main challenge met in creating Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Cabrio was the detachable roof. It had to preserve its rigidity and the crash safety, hence engineers had to re-design load paths and insert extra protection in case Cabrio rolls over.

Bugatti Veyron cabrio’s monocoque structure has been reinforced around side skirts and transmission tunnels. Making use of carbon fibre support, the B-pillers have been the cross stiffed, and mid carbon plate has been situated under transmission tunnel to make certain the car suffers from a less tensional flexing than any another roadster.

The car will have carbon fibre doors and it features the integrated longitudinal beam and an air intake has been updated and now features 10cm wide carbon fibre elements to provide protection.

Other feature includes ‘Puccini’ sound system with the digital signal processor, reversing camera with a 2.7” monitor.

The car has the similar 407kmph top speed with roof closed, however the top speed is decreased to 360kmph with roof off.

The cabrio cost 1.4 million Euros (excluding tax) and will be available from March’09. Just 150 units will be built.

The Spanish engineering company IFR announced the Aspid at the last month and now they had its world debut at the London auto show. According to them the ‘Aspid is the technically advanced luxury sports car’.

Aspid features the ultra lightweight aluminium extrusion composite paneled chassis having weight of only 75kg, 2L engine delivering 201 kW (naturally aspirated) or 300 kW (supercharged form). The car reaches a 62mph in a just 2.8s and 100 mph in just 5.9s.

Aspid is the very compact – with the wheelbase smaller than the city car and smartly build to accommodate even a tallest driver and the passengers too.

The whole point of the Aspid is that it is small and lightning fast, just like its namesake. But we also believe it’s the first genuine attempt at producing an unusually compact luxury sportscar, not just with impeccable road holding and handling, but also with the highest possible quality for a car of its size.

- Mr. Ignacio Fernández Rodriquez (Company Founder) says.

Our market research confirms the importance of a supercar having strong emotional appeal. But it also has to be totally unique. Combine these two factors with the need for robust environmental credentials and the result is what we’ve endeavoured to achieve with the Aspid.

- He added.

Aspid will be showed throughout automotor show in a north hall (stand N8A) of the ExCel exhibition center. The show started from July 23 to August 3, 2008.
