Lotus and Continental Present Results of Their ‘Low CO2′ Research Collaboration
Lotus Engineering and Continental Division Powertrain has developed a system for reducing the CO2 emission. This is the practical and affordable option for manufacturers to lower CO2 emissions.

This ‘Low CO2′ concept is verified in an Opel Astra and it uses Lotus-Designed Pressure Charged 3-cylinder 1.5L Gasoline Engine integrated with no. of technologies from Lotus.
The engine features innovative combined centrally mounted injectors, exhaust manifold design, cam profile lift and timing switching, a mild hybrid drive and high pressure fuel pump.
This result in 15 percent reduction in CO2 emission compared to same vehicle version, naturally aspirated 1.8 liter 4-cylinder Astra engine.
